Students from the Bachelor's Degree in Human Development for Sustainability , from the Faculty of Philosophy of the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ) , have developed a sustainable toilet called " Aerohuerto. "

The project does not use water by means of pipes; instead, it degrades fecal matter through composting. Feces are stored in a container, in which sawdust, earth, ash, and dry leaves are added. After one year, all this is transformed into fertilized land that can be used for soil recovery.

The system was built in the Airport Campus of the UAQ.

The director of the Faculty of Philosophy, Margarita Espinosa Blas , expressed her appreciation to the young people who participated, as well as to the teaching staff involved in the project.

Juan Antonio Ruiz Callejo, administrative coordinator of the UAQ’s Liaison Office of the UAQ

, congratulated the students for this proposal on behalf of the Rector Teresa García Gasca.
