Today, the Mexican Cultural House in Toronto payed tribute to the dance and popular culture of Veracruz with a special performance by the Folkloric Ballet of the University of Veracruz , danzón classes, conferences, workshops and food tastings.

The tribute, called " Mexico, Cielito Lindo Fest ," will continue until August 18 featuring the local group The Mexicans Folk Ballet , directed by dancer Jorge Zárate , originally from San Luis Potosí .

The Veracruz festival will have three venues, including the University of Toronto and a theater at the Harbourfront Center .

, said that there will be folk dance workshops, conferences, gastronomic shows, a Veracruz music concert, an exhibition of a jarocho painter and "we will close the festival with the participation of one of the best representatives of Mexico’s folkloric dance, the ballet of the University of Veracruz."

From August 13 to 16 at the Gotta Dance, there will be a danzón workshop led by José Castro Salazar , from the Folkloric Ballet of the University of Veracruz .

The director of the Ballet, Angel Ciro Silvestre will give a lecture on the " History of Folklore in Veracruz ," while the painter Alberto Cruz will present " The vision of a jarocho " exhibition in the Fleck Dance at the Harbourfront Center .

The tribute will close with the show " Para bailar la bamba " with the presentation of the Folkloric Ballet of the University of Veracruz, with almost 30 dancers on stage.
