The main identified impacts the daylight saving time change may have on our health are sleep disorders, given that our sleep cycle is disrupted.

According to Ulises Jiménez, head of the Sleep Disorder Clinic at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), poor sleep quality, sleepiness, and fatigue are some of the symptoms most commonly observed, mainly among people who work at night or rotate shifts.

According to the expert, the negative effects the human organism suffers due to changes to sunlight exposition should not be dismissed, as they could have an impact on the mental and physical performance.

Some of the recommendations to avoid daylight saving time from wrecking our health, according to experts, are:

  • Stick to your sleeping schedule, even if this implies going to bed earlier.
  • Eat a balanced diet
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Do physical activity
