The UCI Track Cycling World Championships and the Central American and Caribbean Games are the two next challenges for Sofía Arreola, a young Mexican track and road cyclist.

Sofía Arreola, 26, has established herself as one of the best track and road cyclists in the continent, yet this time she is aiming higher.

"In recent years, I've been growing professionally. Training in Europe helped me to get better results and I hope to reach more ambitious goals this year," she assured.

Sofía Arreola started the season on the right track by winning the bronze medal at the International Belgian Track Meeting. Her next objective is Colombia.

"I want to endorse my title in Central America. It is very important to start the Olympic cycle well and begin to dream of being at the Tokyo Games in a few years," she said.

The 23rd Central American and Caribbean Games will be held next July in Barranquilla, Colombia and the 2018 Union Cycliste Internationale Track Cycling World Championships will be held in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands from February 28 to March 4.

This weekend, the best cyclists in Mexico will meet in the second stage of the National Mountain Cycling Cup in Hermosillo, Sonora, the qualifying round for the Central American and Caribbean Games and the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
