For the development of the biodegradable bag "Boltsiri," the students Raquel Adriana Ríos Romo, Mónica Citlalli García García, and María José Rodríguez, from the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ) , received the Recognition to Innovation 2018 .

The UAQ research professor, Carlos Regalado González , along with the students of the seventh semester of Biotechnology Engineering , presented the prize that the Foundation's dean, Teresa García Gasca , received from the Reinventando a México Foundation .

"We are here to support them in any way we can, through the incubator or through special management so that, little by little, we can reach the financial goal they require," the dean said.

In a statement from the UAQ, García Gasca congratulated the university students for their work, which has caught the attention of many sectors both inside and outside the country.

After their participation in the Santander contest for Business Innovation , a committee was formed to selected the three best projects and one of them was "Boltsiri," recalled Carlos Regalado González.

He mentioned that the product was still subject to improvement though on its way to become a viable commercial product.

The student Monica Citlalli Garcia considered that "this is very important because we are applying everything we learn in the classrooms. Not only is our invention practical, but it can also be helpful for society and the environment. "

Finally, María José Rodríguez Hernández acknowledged the work of the teaching staff at the Faculty of Chemistry and thanked them for transmitting their experience so that those involved in the project could develop this new technology.
