In September , industrial production decreased due to the two devastating earthquakes that struck Mexico , according to the data released by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography ( Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía abbreviated Inegi ).

Industrial activity

(mining production, electricity, production, transmission and distribution, piped water and gas supply, construction, and manufacturing industries) decreased 0.4% during September 2017.

On an annual basis, mining production decreased 6.2% , manufacturing industries decreased 0.1% while electricity, production, transmission, and distribution , piped water and gas supply increased 1.8% along with construction which increased 0.8% .

It should be noted that in an annual comparison industrial production fell 1.2% in September compared to last year.

By sectors, mining dropped 15.1% , manufacturing industries increased 2.8% , electricity, production, transmission, and distribution, piped water and gas supply increased 1.4% while construction increased 0.1% .

Thus, industrial activity decreased 0.5% , a figure that contrasts with the 0.5% increase registered in the same period of the previous year.
