Next Sunday, July 1st, Mexican citizens will be able to go to their polling stations and vote for the presidential candidate of their choosing.

For this purpose, the National Electoral Institute (INE) has released a video and an infographic explaining the ways in which you will be able to cast your vote without spoiling the ballot.

Do:

  1. Mark the box corresponding to the political party you wish to vote for.
  2. Mark two boxes corresponding to two political parties registered under the same coalition you wish to vote for.
  3. Mark all the boxes corresponding to all the political parties registered under the same coalition you wish to vote for.
  4. Mark the box corresponding to the independent candidate you wish to vote for.

Don't:

  1. Mark the boxes corresponding to two or more political parties not registered under the same coalition.
  2. Mark one or more boxes corresponding to a political party and the box of one or more independent candidates.
  3. Mark the boxes of both independent candidates.
  4. Mark the entire ballot with a cross, letters, or any other symbol or letter.

Keep in mind:

  1. A blank ballot is also considered a spoilt vote.
  2. Although there is a box with the title “Unregistered Candidate” and a blank space to write down a name, ballots marked here shall not be considered.
