Through its social network accounts, the National Museum of Art (MUNAL) announced it will bring to Mexico one of the works of Caravaggio, an Italian painter considered one of the greatest Baroque artists of his time.

Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio (1571 – 1610), the hand behind works such as "Narciuss", "Bacchus", and "The Head of Medusa", had a turbulent life and was in constant trouble with the law.

Although the MUNAL hasn't said which artwork will be on display to Mexican audiences, it did confirm it will be part of its upcoming exhibition, opening on February 22.

“This 2018, ONE original painting of Caravaggio will come to Mexico, together with other national and international ones, in addition to an immersive experience.”

The Museum has clarified through its social network accounts that the painting coming to Mexico is an original, not a copy, and that it is highly unusual for Caravaggio's paintings to leave Italy, which is why this is exhibition is one you don't want to miss.
