Automotive export and production increased in September

In September, the Mexican market produced 307,174 vehicles representing 7.7% growth, compared to September 2016, according to the Mexican Automotive Industry Association (Asociación Mexicana de la Industria Automotriz abbreviated AMIA).

Manufacturers with the highest production growth rate were Volkswagen (180.5%) due to the Tiguan production in Puebla, followed by KIA (43.6%) and Fiat Chrysler (30.9%)

Regarding exports, 270, 899 units were shipped abroad representing 15% increase compared to September 2016.

Automotive exports to the United States increased 7.8%, to Canada 9.2% and to Asia 133%.

Exports to Europe stand out since the exports increased 310%. Particularly, exports to Germany increased 3.4%, to Italy 0.8% and to France 0.5%.

Manufacturers with the highest export growth were Volkswagen (72.4%), Mazda (60.3%) and Nissan (38.1%) while Ford reported 46.2% production decrease and 31.7% export decrease during September.
