In the last decade, Asian assemblers have positioned themselves as the largest market share in Mexico with the placement of six of the 10 best-selling vehicle brands.

In 2018 alone, Japanese, Korean and Chinese automakers have sold more than 50% of new vehicles in the country.

According to data from the international firm Jato Dynamics in Mexico, the presence of Asian automakers grew 25%, due to the arrival of Hyundai and Kia Motors in 2015.

Meanwhile, the sum of units sold by Korean and Japanese automotive companies in the first five months of the year added up to 51.3% of total vehicle sales, with Nissan Mexicana being the first place in participation for nine consecutive years.

Out of the 10 brands with the highest market share in the country, six are Asian, with Nissan Mexicana leading the way for nine consecutive years with 22.8% participation, while the Japanese Toyota has a 7.7% market share.
