26 thousand 742 jobs were created in May 2017

During the fifth month of the year, 26 thousand 742 formal jobs were generated, 6 thousand 408 jobs or 31.5% more than the increase reported in May 2016 (20 thousand 334 jobs). According to the most recent data on the number of workers affiliated to the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS).

On the one hand, 63,338 new permanent positions were created last May, 17% more than last year. But on the other hand, 37,764 temporary positions were lost, 8.5% more than those lost in May 206.

With this result, IMSS points out that the job creation in the current administration is 2 million 752 thousand positions.

This increase is 2.6 times greater than that created in the same period of the previous administration (1 million 69 thousand 496 jobs) and even higher than the one created during the six years of any of the past administrations.

The variation of employment in the last 12 months was 790 thousand 23 jobs, equivalent to an annual rate of 4.3%. 86.5% of this employment is permanent.

As of May 31, 19 million 47 thousand 825 jobs have been registered before the IMSS. 86% of which are permanent and 14% temporary. In the last six years, these percentages have remained relatively constant.
