Election day begins; polling places open in 4 States

Today at 8:00 am, election day in Mexico began to elect Governors in the State of Mexico, Coahuila and Nayarit and Mayors in Veracruz.

The polling places started to open in these four states and will remain open until 18:00 hours, when the process of vote counting begins.

The time in Nayarit is one hour less than the time of the center of the country.

In the State of Mexico, Governor will be elected.

The State of Mexico is the most crowded entity in the country. According to the latest data, it has a population of 15,175, 862 and has a nominal listing of 11,317,686 registered voters.

It is currently ruled by Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI).

In Coahuila, they will elect Governor, 16 Deputies of Relative Majority, 9 Representatives of Proportional Representation and 38 Municipalities.

The state is currently governed by PRI.

The population of Coahuila represents 2.4% of the national population, with 2.75 million inhabitants, half of which is less than 25 years old.

In Nayarit people will also be choosing Governor, 18 Deputies of Relative Majority, 12 Deputies of Proportional Representation and 20 Municipalities.

The total population of Nayarit in the year 2010 was 1.084 million inhabitants, which represents 0.97 percent of the total population in the country.

PRI currently commands the State as well.

It has a nominal list of 815,124 registered voters.

In Veracruz, 212 Municipalities will be elected

It has a nominal list of 5,578,825 voters.

Specialists in electoral processes and political scientists agreed on the complex scenario that will be experienced in this Sunday's elections, mainly in entities in which there has been no alternation - Coahuila and State of Mexico -, in which the PRI seeks to maintain its governments for the presidential elections of 2018.
