Established in 2010, the company Xiaomi ranks in the first places of smartphone sales in China, its country of origin, and in other markets like India. In 2013 the model Mi2S excelled other brands in China such as Samsung and Apple, and in the same year sold the first 100 thousand units of Mi3 on the internet in only 86 seconds.

Although some devices were already available in Mexico, the company announced its official presentation in the country and its plan to introduce its ecosystem of Internet of Things (IoT.)

Donovan Sung, director of Product Management and Global Market, did not give specific dates but asserted that more than smartphones, the company will follow in Mexico the same strategy it has at a worldwide level: hardware, IoT, and Internet services.

He stated that as soon as they get to know the market better and manage to position themselves in the area of smartphones, they will introduce more devices like wearables, robots, drones and personal transport equipment, which could be managed from the app Mi Home, available for iOS and Android.

The company declares that in order to boost its strategy, it has become the most successful hardware incubator in the world: after investing in 77 startups, it has reached 50 million IoT connections.

Its first launch in Latin America was in Mexico, however, the company plans to enter soon into the markets of other countries, like Colombia, Chile, Paraguay and Bolivia.

New smartphones

The model Redmi Note 4 is already available in their Mexican official web page (mi.com/mx). It has fingerprint sensor and a battery that, according to the brand, offers up to 158 hours of music playback, 17 hours of play and 12 hours of recording in HD. Its chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 reduces battery consumption up to 25 percent.

They also announced the Redmi 4X, with 4100 mAh of battery, 5” screen, processor Snapdragon 435, fingerprint sensor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. Camera of 13 MP with HDR and a frontal of 5 MP. This model offers dual SIM for MXN$3.999 pesos.
