According to Mexico City's Minister of the Interior, as of noon today, 6,902,300 people have visited the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in celebration of the 485th anniversary of the appearance of the Virgin Mary in Tepeyac, Mexico.

The Minister says that until now, the massive pilgrimage, which is the most visited Catholic pilgrimage site in the entire world, has been calm and peaceful and many more are expected to visit the site throughout the end of the day.

He added that 3,939 people have received medical attention due to exhaustion and injuries on their feet do to their barefoot trek, and 417,000 liters of water have been handed out to the pilgrims.
