'The Little Prince' translated into Huasteco language

As the result of her effort, personal interest and almost 10 years of work in indigenous communities, the linguist Ana Kondik presented the book 'The Little Prince' by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry translated into Huasteco language.

The Huasteco is a variant of the Mayan language spoken by people living in rural areas of San Luis Potosi, Hidalgo, Puebla and Veracruz.

'An Chikam Principe' (The Little Prince), is already available in bookstores, it has a print run of 3,000 copies, from which 2,000 will be given away by the National Institute of Indigenous Languages ​​(Inali) and about three dozens will be taken by the linguist to the community of San Francisco, in the municipality of Chontla, Veracruz, where she worked and lived.

Kondik explained that she decided to translate the book, originally in French, because she has liked it since she was a little girl, due to its simple language, and yet profound philosophy.

The Little Prince, she said, is a book for all ages and genders, which reaffirms values, talks about tolerance, understanding and highlights the important things, not the material.
