Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto said that the Pacific Alliance must become "an inclusive organization" during the opening ceremony of the XI Summit of the member and observer countries of the trade bloc.

"The Pacific Alliance must be an organization that should not leave behind neither people nor small businesses," expressed Peña Nieto before the presidents of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, and Perú, Ollanta Humala.

He added that the message of the Alliance is clear: "Our countries are more compromised now than ever with a true integration platform, based on commercial openness and inclusion."

Peña Nieto praised the support provided by the four member nations to the small businesses through a special fund with the support of the American Development Bank.

He also said that "we have promoted tuition for 1,200 students in our member countries. In other words, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Mexico are facing the same challenges of these times, with the same vision and the pragmatism which characterize this alliance."

Peña Nieto also pointed out that the bloc's trade agreement, which was put in place last May 1, means that the member countries are sharing the flow of products, services, funds and people.
