Mexico's Tax Administration Service (SAT) filed a complaint against a civil servant for operations with illegal proceeds.

The employee, whose name and designation was not revealed, works for the General Customs Administration of the Metropolitan region.

The SAT also filed a complaint against an employee of the General Taxpayer Administration for altering computer systems.

In the first three months of the year the SAT has filed 24 complaints against its own officials before the Public Prosecutor and 216 more before the internal compliance department.

Eliel Amaya, senior foreign trade manager at PwC, said that unfortunately Mexico has to deal with drug trafficking and that sometimes customs workers get involved in illicit operations because they are pushed to do so.
