Mayela Marcos did not want to be a dancer, but her mother insisted that she should have some physical activity. She tried skating, gymnastics and swimming. One day she learned that her sister had returned happy from her ballet class, so she decided to try it. But it was not until she got her first applause that ballet become a necessity and a passion in her life.

The 23-year old ballerina is a classical dance graduate from the Superior School of Music and Dance of Monterrey. She continued her studies at the Moscow State Academy of Choreography of Bolshoi Theatre, one of the most prestigious in the world.

Six years later, she graduated from the Bolshoi and was invited to join the company Aztracán. Now she is a demi-soloist of The Imperial Russian Ballet Company, one of the most renowned in Russia, and is also pursuing a master at the Bolshoi.

Marcos has participated in The Swan Lake, Sherehezade, Carmina Burana and The Sleeping Beauty both, with the Bolshoi Theatre and the Imperial Russian Ballet, and has performed in countries such as New Zealand, China, Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia.

About the Russian technique, Marcos says that Russian dancers dance with the heart, and that teachers teach you to feel the movement in order to be able to convey an emotion. Moreover, she says that all steps are done with great elegance.
