The Mexican government has sent a support mission to Guatemala to aide in the emergency caused by a landslide in the Central-American country.

The group is composed by 12 experts from the Ministry of National Defense, 11 from the Ministry of the Navy, 32 from the Federal Police, an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) and eight from the National Coordination of Civil Protection.

The SRE and the Ministry of the Interior reported that also 16 dogs from the Navy and the Federal Police will participate in the support operation.

The document added that the group will be received by Mexican ambassador Mabel Gómez Oliver, representatives of the SRE and the National Coordination for Disaster Reduction of Guatemala.

Under instructions from President Enrique Peña Nieto, the Minister of the Interior, Miguel Angel Osorio Chong, sent humanitarian aid as well as the team of experts to the area affected by the massive landslide in the area of Cambray II, in Santa Catarina Pinula.

The landslide has so far left 73 dead.
