Hurricane Patricia damaged around 9,000 houses in Jalisco, the Ministry of Social Development (SEDESOL) said.

José Antonio Meade, Minister of Social Development, said that in the municipality of Cihuatlán, Jalisco, one of the most affected by Patricia, the hurricane damaged 3,500 hectares of banana and papaya plantations and 1,00 hectares of mango plantations.

The hurricane algo damaged corn, banana and papaya plantations in Michoacán.

He added that Patricia affected 34 communities in Jalisco, 14 in Nayarit and Michoacán and 10 in Colima and that economic aid to the victims will start being delivered this weekend.

At a press conference today José Calzada, minister of Agriculture, said that at least 15,000 hectares of plantations were completely lost due to the hurricane and that 27,000 more were partially lost, without specifying where.
