Popocatépetl Volcano spews 96 low-intensity exhalations

Some exhalations were followed by emissions of steam and gas.

The Monitoring System of Popocatépetl Volcano registered 96 low-intensity exhalations during the last 24 hours, some of them accompanied by steam and gas.

At night, incandescence was observed over the crater followed by emissions of steam and gas.

At the moment of this report, emissions of steam and gas can be observed.  

The National Center for Disaster Prevention (Cenapred) urges people not go near the volcano due to the danger caused by ballistic fragments. 

This type of activity is included within the scenarios of Volcanic Traffic Light Yellow Phase 2.
